LABELS & CERTIFICATIONS
Sometimes we can see a label on a product and think "this means they're legit". However, that is not always true.
In fact, there is little regulation with labels. Companies can even get away with making their own to help convince people of their purpose, even if false (sometimes greenwashing). This is why self-given certifications are super not credible.
However, there are some labels that provide more trustworthy information. Most notable are third-party certifications, which means they have been verified by an external company (removing any potential bias). Companies are kept more accountable -- having to pass more regular, repeated tests/regulations or providing data-based proof measuring their efforts.
